Adrian Pratt Mining Consultancy
Operational readiness – What is it and how to get it done?
10:30 AM - 10:50 AMBiography
Adrian has a diverse background in mining projects that spans their evaluation, design, implementation, and operation. In 2014 he established own consultancy, which focuses on mineral project development in Australia and internationally. Prior to this he held senior technical support and operational roles with Ivanhoe Australia, Newcrest, BHP and Normandy Mining associated new projects.
Adrian holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Mining) from the University of NSW and a Masters of Minerals & Energy Economics from Macquarie University, and Certificates of Competency as a Mine Manager. He is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute for Mining and Metallurgy with Certified Professional (CP) accreditation, Member of the Institute of Engineers Australia with registration as a Certified Practicing Engineer and is a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ).
Joe Evert
Senior Consulting Engineer

Managing high volume water inflows of 300 l/s in the planning and development of a large scale underground Gold Mine - the Didipio story
10:50 AM - 11:10 AMBiography
Joe Evert is a senior underground mining engineer and underground water management consultant. He has a bachelor’s degree of Engineering in Mining and 32 years of operational and technical experience in underground mining and mining engineering.
Joe has worked in underground hard rock mines acquiring an expert grounding in many different methods of underground mining, ventilation, and pumping. As an underground superintendent in the development of the Ernest Henry Sub level cave the operation intersected a mine threatening aquifer, he then led a team to combat and overcome the water, through a series of pressure grouting campaigns and the development of a mine dewatering system. This unique system, which is still operational, proved invaluable to the mines future and is a clear example of his advanced problem solving and analytical assessment abilities.
Joe then went on to work as a specialist consultant in several mines in Australia, Philippines, Indonesia, USA, PNG, Guatemala and Africa primarily troubleshooting and solving major water issues and providing specialist underground water management plans. This included designing the water management plan to combat 510 l/s in the development of the underground Didipio project in the Philippines.
Mr Jack Light
Senior Mining Engineer
BHP
The application of critical chain project management to sub-level open stoping at Olympic Dam
11:10 AM - 11:30 AMBiography
Jack is a Senior Mining Engineer with BHP, Olympic Dam who is keen to change the way we think about mine planning. With 8 years of experience across a number of different scale operations, he has worked across feasibility studies, continuous improvement projects, mine planning and mine design. Completing training in Theory of Constraints and Critical Chain Project Management inspired him to take learnings from manufacturing industry and apply them to mining so that we can better communicate plan outcomes and ultimately increase value for our organisations.
Tobias Ladinig
Senior Rock Mechanics Engineer
LKAB / Montanuniversität Leoben
Design of raise caving operations in LKAB mines
11:30 AM - 11:50 AMBiography
Bachelor and Master in Mining Engineering
PhD in Rock Engineering
6 years of experience
Work concentrates on applied research and development with mines. Emphasis is on rock engineering and underground mining. Current main projects are development of raise caving and design of pillars in deep and shallow underground mines.
