Biography

Eddie is a metallurgist/process engineer with 40+ years’ experience and is globally recognised as a leader in cost-effective plant design. With experience across 26 countries, his minerals processing and extractive metallurgy experience is principally for precious metals (gold, silver), base metals (copper, lead, nickel, zinc), mineral sands and industrial minerals. During his career, Eddie has managed process teams; process and engineering design activities; scoping and supervision of metallurgical test work; managing and lead process roles for concept through to feasibility studies; detail process design; plant commissioning and ramp-up for project delivery; and technical support through to operations. Eddie is a Fellow of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).

Biography

Dr. Yeonuk Choi is the president of Yakum Consulting Inc since June 2018. Hi is also an adjunct professor at Queen’s University, Canada since Feb 2020. He obtained Bachelor and Master degree in Metallurgical Engineering from Yonsei University, in South Korea and obtained a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Rapid City, South Dakota, USA.. In 1993, he started his industrial job with Korea Zinc and worked through Noranda and Falconbridgge. In 2005, he joined Barrick Gold Corp as a corporate metallurgist and worked up to a director position in the Strategic Technology Solutions in the corporate office. He worked on the development and commissioning of the thiosulphate plant at Goldstrike which is the first large commercial scale of cyanide-free gold, alternative process to cyanide leaching. He also developed a process to recover silver and copper, with transformational, proprietary technologies to recover silver and copper values exceeding the value $1B at the Pueblo Viejo plant, Dominican Republic. After Barrick, he created a consulting company with Dr. Peter Kondos in June 2018 and has been working on projects with various clients. He has over 50 papers in journals and conferences and 12 patents. He has been awarded of MetSoc Sherritt Hydrometallurgy Award in 2013, MetSoc Innovation awards in 2016 and 2019.

Biography

Gillian Holcroft obtained her bachelor and master’s degrees in Chemical Engineering from McGill. She is an Executive Engineer whose expertise is on commercializing environmentally sustainable approaches in the minerals and waste processing sectors. In recognition of her leadership, Gillian received the CIM 2019 MetSoc Environmental Award and in 2021 received CIM’s Distinguished Lecturer award. Gillian began her career over 30 years ago at the Noranda Technology Center. She has been the President and CEO of a publicly listed company, whose goal is to produce magnesium metal and by-products from tailings. Gillian is currently Innovation Manager at the Canada Mining Innovation Council where she has been managing the CAHM Platform technology project.
