Bill Staunton
Gold Technology Group, Curtin University
Panellist
12:15 PM - 1:15 PMBiography
Bill Staunton has been involved with gold processing for more than 35 years in academia, industry, and government organisations. From 1997-2012 he was the Leader of the Gold Technology Group, now based at Curtin University, and the Manager of the AMIRA P420 Gold Processing Technology Project, the largest collaborative research project in gold processing. Bill is currently an independent consultant (AdvanceMet Pty Ltd) and is an Associate of Curtin University, where he continues to work with the Gold Technology Group.
Dr Seher Ata
Associate Professor In Mining Engineering
UNSW
Panellist
12:15 PM - 1:15 PMBiography
Seher Ata is Associate Professor in the School of Minerals and Energy at University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. Dr Ata’s research interests focus in fundamental and applied research in mineral processing with special emphasis on froth flotation and dewatering. Dr Ata has worked on a wide range of projects which have concentrated on processing coarse and fine particles by flotation, froth phase behaviour in industrial flotation cells, tailings reprocessing, integrating renewable energy use in mineral processing, and the impact of water chemistry on the efficiency of coal processing plants.
Leon Faulkner
EnviroCopper
Panellist
12:15 PM - 1:15 PMBiography
Leon is a geologist with over 30 years’ experience in the mineral industry, with considerable time spent in all aspects of the exploration to mine process including :green fields and grass roots exploration, geological/ore body modeling, mine economics, mine development and new project generation/acquisitions
His work experience in mine development and exploration projects includes the Tanami Desert with The Granites Gold Mine open cut/underground mining operations), and ISR mining operation at Honeymoon (South Australia) for Uranium One, until Care and Maintenance in 2014.
Since then Leon spent considerable time recognising the opportunities that ISR presents for other metals and identified a number of future ISR amenable projects. In 2017 Leon and his team established Environmental Copper Recovery P/L over the first of these; Kapunda Copper ISR project (JV with Terramin Ltd), funded to $3.7 million Thor Mining PLC (ASX,AIM:THR) and a Commonwealth Government CRC-P grant.
Then last year ECR P/L morphed into EnviroCopper Ltd over the Kapunda project and new JV with Andromeda Metals (ASX:ADN) – Copper ISR Moonta project.
Dr Karin Soldenhoff
ANSTO
Panellist
12:15 PM - 1:15 PMBiography
Karin Soldenhoff is the Principle Consultant for ANSTO Minerals at the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation.
Over a 30 year career in process development for the mining industry, Karin has led numerous projects commissioned by industry regarding various aspects of hydrometallurgical processing of uranium, rare earths, zirconium, niobium, lithium, scandium and other critical metals. She has a special interest in solvent extraction and ion exchange separation technologies.
