Biography

As COO of Strayos, Brad leads the development of AI solutions that combine visual and operational data sources to solve tangible use cases for mine operators. He spent the first phase of his career helping over 100 sites optimise drill and blast activities as a mining engineer with Orica and Dyno Nobel. He then expanded the scope of his support to encompass all commercial and operational functions by moving into management consulting with the top tier firm Boston Consulting Group. Brad holds a B Eng (Mining Engineering) from UNSW and an MBA (Finance, Entrepreneurship) from Carnegie Mellon University.

Biography

Claude Sammut is a professor of Computer Science and Engineering at UNSW and president-elect of the RoboCup Federation. He has been a program manager in the Smart Internet Technology CRC and a chief investigator in the ARC Centre of Excellence in Autonomous Systems. He is currently a CI in several research centres, applying Artificial Intelligence to domains such as steel manufacturing and infrastructure maintenance. His research is focussed on machine learning and robotics in multi agent systems, combining high-level reasoning with learning low-level behaviours. Much of the research has been driven by challenges in international robotics competitions. His teams have one many awards for their work in rescue robots and robot soccer. Their recent work has been developing intelligent service robots. After serving on the board of trustees of the RoboCup Federation since 2012, he was elected to be the next president of the Federation, beginning at the next competition in 2022.

Biography

Damien Williams was appointed Solutions and Implementations Manager at Auto-mate in 2021. Damien has a wealth of experience in automation technologies and applications gained in over a decade in the mining industry. He is a specialist in mobile mining equipment and its associated technology with key capability in their identification, deployment and ongoing support. Damien has a multi-faceted background which includes the successful completion of operational deliverables across planning, resourcing, logistics, execution, quality control and customer management, with a focus on automation in the resources industry.

Biography

Zeljka Pokrajcic is a mineral processing professional with experience in the mineral industry globally. She has worked in the commissioning, operation and optimisation of Pb-Zn processing circuits in Canada and Australia. As the Technical Director at PETRA she brings domain knowledge and experience to the application of AI and digital techniques to mining and mineral processing. She holds a PhD from SMI-JKMRC in energy efficient comminution circuit design and was award the TMS environmental award for her work. She is a founding director of CEEC International, a global not for profit aimed at promoting energy efficiency in the minerals sector.
