William Oching is a professional Mining Engineer, with strong Mining Industry Experience in Canada, and a faculty member at British Columbian Institute of Technology (BCIT). Prior to joining BCIT, William worked for a number of world-class mining companies including Barrick & Teck Joint Venture, Falconbridge Limited, Vale Sudbury Operations in Ontario, Cameco Corporation and Nyrstar. He held positions with increasing level of responsibilities in project management, mine ventilation, and mine operations. William holds a B.Eng. and MBA from Laurentian University in Sudbury. Currently, William teaches Mine Management & Occupational Health, and Underground Mine Design and Ventilation and Mining Projects.

Hendrik Grobler is the Head of Department of Mining Engineering and Mine Surveying at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa. Hendrik gained 18 years of industry experience as the Responsible Mine Surveyor on gold, platinum, nickel and chrome mining projects in Africa before joining the University of Johannesburg in 2007. Hendrik’s industrial experience and research fields includes the alignment of underground surveying networks using gyroscopic methods, laser scanning (LIDAR), monitoring of geological hazards including subsidence monitoring, mine planning, ore reserve valuation, ore reconciliation and forensic surveys.
