The Future Workforce for the Mining Industry
Who should attend?
This workshop will be of interest to industry strategists and forward planners; human resource managers and recruiters, educational providers and other key industry and government stakeholders. The workshop will consist of an invited panel of key experts from the industry, HR and education sectors who will provide brief presentations and then participate in a structured Q & A session, which will include questions and contributions from the workshop audience.
Questions to be considered by the workshop will include:
· What will the mining workforce look like in 20 years?
· What will be the skills mix and how will it differ from now?
· How diverse will be the future industry skills need – one size fits all?
· What does change look like in our industry?
· How well prepared is the current workforce for the inevitable and ongoing changes the industry will face?
· In our future global industry, what attributes are of most importance in our people?
· How do we foster and develop such attributes?
· Are the current education and training regimes adequate and appropriate for the future? If not, why not?
· What do future mining-sector educational programs look like?
