Pre & Post Conference Workshops (Optional)
Introduction to Resource Estimation Workshop (pre-conference)
In this 1-day workshop, we will provide an overview of the key components of the resource estimation cycle and the importance of putting geology at the heart of our resource estimation workflows. For the course, Leapfrog Edge will be used, allowing resource geologists to combine the visual insights from 3D Leapfrog models with the industry-standard resource estimation tools all in one place. This course will discuss how to fully integrate your resource estimation workflow with your geological modelling including how to refine or add data at any stage and how these changes flow downstream.
This workshop is for mining and resource geologists who are already involved in developing resource estimates and who wish to gain deeper insights into the estimation process.
This workshop includes a series of theoretical presentations and group discussions on the key aspects of estimation including statistical data analysis, domaining, variography, estimation, validation and classification. These subjects will be interspersed with examples using Leapfrog Edge.

This pre-conference workshop will be held at the Crown Towers Perth.

Conditional simulation – theory and applications in Mineral Resource Estimation Workshop (pre-conference)
The wide set of techniques collectively known as conditional simulation was once the province of academics or those with very powerful computers. The power of simulation is now available to almost anybody with a reasonable laptop computer and it is becoming a valuable tool to enhance Mineral Resource Estimates, especially providing the dimension of risk to otherwise deterministic estimates.
This one-day course explains and demystifies the main simulation approaches as used resource estimation – turning bands, sequential Gaussian simulation, sequential Indicator simulation – and presents a range of practical applications. These applications cover areas such as resource classification, drill spacing studies, recoverable resource estimation, rock type characterisation, profit/loss functions and ore block determination.

Introduction to Python in Geology and Mineral Resource Evaluation Workshop (post-conference)
WORKSHOP FULL - If you are interested in attending a second workshop on Tuesday, May 23 please tick the wait list option.
A workshop to discover easy-to-learn automation techniques that can save hours or even days of work.
Python is a general-purpose coding language that is widely used in most industries worldwide, with a huge community of users and many modules for specific tasks available in the public domain.
When Python is combined with Jupyter Notebooks or Google Colab, it becomes an ideal tool for data science, including drilling data analysis and mineral resource evaluation. Its low cost and user-friendly interface make it accessible even to those with limited coding experience.
Join us for an introduction to Python scripting and learn how it can boost productivity in geological modelling and mineral resource evaluation.
